Christine Imperial is a writer based in Oakland. She is currently a PhD Cultural Studies student at UC Davis. Her debut book Mistaken for an Empire (Mad Creek Books) received the 2021 Gournay Prize. Their writing has been published in The Kenyon Review, Poetry, Poets & Writers, among others.
