William Powhida

Profile picture of Dilettante Army Author William Powhida

William Powhida (he/him) is an artist/arts worker who makes fun of the art world to highlight the paradoxes and absurdities of economic and social value systems that keep the sphere of visual art afloat on a surging tide of inequality.  This has not made him enormously popular with rich people/collectors and he is happy to do weird illustrations and editorial projects to help pay the bills when he isn’t teaching or handling art. He is represented by Postmasters Gallery (NY), Charlie James Gallery (LA), and Gallery Poulsen (DK)  and he is working on an exhibition that will open in early 2022 at Haverford College in Philadelphia.  You can also listen to him discuss art, politics, and money on Explain Me, an infrequent podcast co-hosted by Paddy Johnson.
