Katie Carter has been writing poems for many years. When she turned fifteen, her parents gave her a copy of “The Portable Dorothy Parker.” Luckily, this caused her to write more poems, but not to drink heavily. She went on to attend UC Santa Cruz and graduate with a BA in literature with an emphasis in creative writing. Today she writes what some have termed “bar poems”: funny, sad, terribly myopic, often too loud, and sometimes in questionable taste.
